As of January 2025, major changes are coming to employee benefits, opening the way for companies to motivate employees more effectively and improve their well-being. What exactly is changing?

As of January 1, 2025, significant legislation has come into force that expands the options in the area of employee benefits. In addition to increasing the existing limits for leisure activities, it also introduces a new benefit focused solely on health promotion. This will give companies a powerful tool to ensure the physical and mental well-being of their employees.

New limits: Health and leisure within reach

Thanks to the new tax-advantaged benefit, it is now possible to use the annual limit of the average wage for health care, which for 2025 is CZK 46,557. Employees will thus be able to draw support for health check-ups, rehabilitation, consultations with a psychologist or preventive programmes. This change will allow companies to invest in prevention and significantly contribute to the quality of life of their employees.

The popular limit for leisure activities has also been increased, which will now correspond to half of the average wage, i.e. CZK 23,278. These funds can be used, for example, for sports, cultural experiences, education or holidays, which will support the balance between employees’ work and personal life.

Why focus on health?

Statistics from 2024 highlight the growing problem of incapacity for work:

  • 50% of employees have been on sick leave at least once.
  • The average length of sick leave was 32.5 days, with long-term absences often lasting up to 97 days.
  • On average, 227,800 people were absent from the workplace every day.

The main causes include musculoskeletal problems and psychological difficulties such as stress or burnout. New health benefits allow companies to target these problems and provide better working conditions.

Investing in health benefits brings companies not only tax relief, but also long-term benefits in the form of lower absenteeism and higher employee satisfaction. All funds invested in health care will be exempt from taxes and levies, allowing companies to operate more efficiently.
